  • There is no prorating for holidays. Tuition is based upon an average of 4 classes per month. Tuition will remain the same if there are 3, 4, or 5 classes in the month.

Cancellation Policy

  • Like most schools, we require 30 days notice when leaving or stopping instruction. This may be no different than your preschool's policy.
  • Tuition will be charged until 30 days after you have informed administration of the change.
  • TELLING YOUR SCHOOL OR THE INSTRUCTOR DOES NOT COUNT. PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE or EMAIL US.
  • Please remember we are a separate school that comes in to teach and we are not affiliated in any way with your preschool or elementary school.
  • We realize that things come up and it can be tough to plan that far ahead, but please give us as much notice as possible. We do enforce this policy.

Schedule and Missed Classes

  • Classes run year round.
  • If the teacher is absent we will either schedule a make up class or credit your account.
  • If we need to change or move your child's class we will give 30 days notice and check family availability.
  • If you are intending to drop class because of an extended absence, and there is a waiting list at your school, you will be expected to wait for the next available position.
  • Tuition not only covers your child's class time but it also holds your child's spot in the class.
  • Regular attendance is essential to the success of your dancer.
  • We do not prorate tuition for student absences or school closures.
  • We do prorate when enrolling/dropping mid month.
  • There is no prorating for holidays.
  • Tuition is based upon an average of 4 classes per month. Tuition will remain the same if there are 3, 4, or 5 classes in the month.

Dress Code/ Footware

  • Dress code is open, but choices for class should allow dancers to move and stretch. No jeans, please.
  • Students may wear dance leotards or dresses but they must be dressed before class begins.
  • It is best if the dancer wears his or her dance clothing to school on the appropriate day of the week.
  • For liability and timing reasons, Small Fry teachers are not allowed to change dancers.
  • Dancers with long hair must pull it back into a pony tail for class.
  • Please label all dance bags, clothes, and shoes with your child's first and last name.
  • Although we will do our best to manage dance gear, Small Fry is not responsible for lost items.
  • Dance shoes are optional. You may choose to purchase tap, ballet or jazz shoes for your dancer.
  • We recommend tap shoes with elastic instead of bows. This will help with quick transitions. Lost bows can keep the students from being able to use their shoes.
  • Both Oxford and Mary Jane style tap shoes are great for the preschool dancers.
  • Dance shoes can be found at Capezio Dance Theatre in down town San Mateo.

Class Ratios

  • Toddler class - 1:4
  • Junior Preschool - 1:8
  • Preschool - 1:10
  • PreK - 1:12
  • Once a class is full, the director and Small Fry will collaborate on starting a 2nd class. If another class is not a possibility, we will start a waiting list.

Parental Observation

  • Parents are allowed and encouraged to watch class.
  • When observing a class parents are not allowed to give corrections.
